  1. well, I can't answer your question but I hope you get eh answers you are looking for...we are in Canada and have some close friends in Adelaide, we have been there and it is just beautiful there...so we have decided that we too would like to move there.....I will talk with our friends in Adelaide and ask him the questions you are asking and I will get back to you A.S.A.P.

  2. I wish I could help you,but I don't really know that much about Adelaide.

You best best is to ask the same question in the Australian travel section and you will get many great helpful answers.

    Take care.

  3. Good choice, Adelaide is the perfect city (if you can call it that) to grow up in in my (perhaps somewhat bias opinion). No matter where you go (as far as i've experienced) there's an incredible sense of communities within the neighbourhoods.

(I wont include descriptions of the the more dodgey areas; these are (in order of dodgeyness) Saislbury, Elizabeth, Port Adelaide, Hackham, Aberfoyle Park, Blackwood (although it's getting better), Arndale, Findon park. Any of the outer-suburbs where the developments are happening and new houses are cheap.

The area around Glengowrie, Brighton, Glenelg, etc is great for sporting and recreational areas, the schools there have a focus on sport, although their academic standards are all great too. The kids from these neighbourhoods tend to be stereotypically 'jock' types... producing alot of AFL players (and leighton hewitt) The close proximity to the ocean is GREAT here.

Between the City and the Bay (where i live) includes Plympton, Glandore, Wayville, Blackforest, Goodwood, etc.

I would reccomend this to ANYBODY. Safe, lots of schools to choose from, incredibly handy public transport. My friends and i would walk by ourselves to and from primary school, or catch the bus or ride for those who lived further (5 years ago).

Burnside, Fullham, Norwood, etc. are the 'high-end' suburbs. Probably the safest, but also the most unnaffordable.

Having said all this, there are new plans (according to an add i saw yesterday) to add a tramline that runs through west-beach and up to footy park. This would no-doubt have a great impact on the demographics of adelaide suburbs, and my guess is- if you buy along the route of the tramline BEFORE it goes up- your house is going to sky-rocket in value over the next decade or so. I'd have a look into that too.

As for highschools (for your 12yo) It really depends what you're after. Because adelaide is so small though, ANY suburban home is going to be a 40minute max drive away from ANY school.

Man, sorry it's so long- adelaide's a tiny place, but there's alot to it. hehe
