Hello, last september i took the harley davidson riders edge msf course and rode a buell blast, (500cc) and completed the course. my grandpa has been a rider all his life and he just bought a Honda vtx 1300r i believe, or whichever comes with the windshield and saddlebags, and due to past and current leg injuries hes going to give it to me real soon.

im kinda worried about riding it, or learning to ride on it since its a big jump from a 500 to a 1300 but then again it would be a real confidence booster to ride it lol. i havent seen it yet, so if someone could get the specs of a blast and the vtx 1300r that would be great. any help at all would be appreciated.

  1. 1300T means its a touring edition that VTX just came out with ,Nice Bike with all the bells and whistles . Its a big jump from a 500cc but it handles like a dream and I never meet any one that wished they would have bought something else , There is also a websight called VTX Owners Association that has over 33 thousand registered VTX owners ,Its free to join and puts you in contact with people in your state that ride the Honda VTX and answers every question you can think of .Sorry to hear about your Grandpa having to give up riding on 2 wheels But he himself may have even heard of the websight Im talking about .God Bless an ride Safe

  2. You just need to know it has more power than it needs and is a pretty heavy bike. You rode a 500 and i think if you're a big enough guy, you can handle it. Just remember that it is still a bike and will get you hurt or killed real quickly. Ride safe.

  3. just remember, you are in charge of the bike. makes no

difference the size, YOU are the one in charge.  the bike

is capable of big speed and it is probably a little heavier

but when the thottle is turned they all weigh about the same.

  4. The hardest thing to get used to is the weight, which you'll only have to worry about when your stopped. Its a low bike which will help a lot. You should be fine if your careful. Have fun.
