Moving from a dry climate to a humid one. Any advice?

I am moving from Ca. (dry climate) to N.C. (humid). I have never been in high humidity before in my entire life (38 yrs). So I have no idea what to expect. Also I do suffer from high blood pressure and asthma. Anyone have any experience with a major climate change like this? Any advice about what to expect or how to handle it, tips etc. would be much appreciated. Thank You :)

  1. DON'T DO IT.

    it's a mistake.

invest in companies that sell deodorant.

make sure your car has an airconditioner.

    and your house too.

BUT, you'll see green outside like you've never seen before.

well, in the summer, that is.

poison ivy looks different than poison oak.

    watch out for ticks.

people get lime disease there, unlike in Calif.

somehow, this reminds me of a very old cartoon, in which the character starts to walk out into the desert.  there's an old cow skull on the ground next to the road that says, as he passes,  "You'll be sorry."

  2. dont do it!

    lol

you wont be able to breathe right for a week!

  3. I live in OK  and I have high blood pressure and asthma.  Watch your salt intake and stay away from mold.  You might look into an air purifier.  I have one in my house and it helps with the mold here.  Your hair will frizz a lot.  Lol that's my biggest problem.  Your health should be fine though.

  4. it probably will be a little harder to breathe, so i would keep my inhaler on me at all times if i were you.

also, you hair will probably frizz.

    use thermal spray, like Vo5

it's cheap and works just as good as anything else

  5. I live in a climate that is humid and the best thing I can tell you is have air conditioning!!

It is hard on asthma and other illnesses that relate to respiratory problems. When you get to NC consult a doctor as to your problems so he can give you something to help in extreme heat. Your high blood pressure won't be affected unless you are stressed by the new experience. I hope in some small way this helps

  6. dont dress heavily. drink more water. keep kool anyway possible

  7. Well welcome when ever you get here. I live in the mid section of NC, Albemarle, and let me tell you, I suffer really bad from allergies here, and actually the only time they get alittle better is when I visit the beach, in SC. Right now it is extremelly dry due to the drought, and we have ozone alerts on the local TV stations for those with asthma & allergies so that will help you alot to let you know when the best time is to be outside. So good luck on your move and once again welcome.

  8. It will take you a while to get used to it.
