Moving from a longboard to short board?

for the past months, I've been using 8' longboard once a week & easily got used to surfing. now I want to get a shorter board. I was considering a fish, but I still have no clue how long the board should be. I was thinking in the 6'6" - 7' area.

how long should the board be?

what type?

basic info:

height: 5' 1.5"

weight: 85lbs

thanks for your help

  1. It might be helpful if you have friends who have different length boards! You might try them one by one.. So long as they let you until you find a length which is comfortable.

  2. woah, you're only 85 pounds. I'm twice as big as you. I could fit two of you in me.

yeah, you should get a 6'6" superfish, wide swallow tail, three fins, low rocker.

Keep in mind that you are a little girl and you need a more narrow board for paddling.

  3. the 6'6" fish is a great size and board but you should get a board that isnt that wide because you seem to be small and it would be hard to paddle on a wide board. go to a surfshop and the guys there will get you a great board for you and your size and the breaks at your beach. good luck. hope this helps

  4. A 6'6 fish would be a great board. You could even get a quad fish!!
