Question:

Moving from acoustic to electric guitar...

I have an electric guitar that I want to learn to play, but my local music store only gives lessons for acoustic guitars. A friend of mine is willing to let me borrow his acoustic for the lessons. I'm not sure how similar the two are, so would the acoustic lessons be worthwhile if I were to go home and practice on an electric? Thanks - any opinions/advice would really help!

  1. Most acoustic, strings are farther apart.  The neck is wider.

I recomend you learn both, Spend the few dollars to get your own, and keep looking for someone to teach you electric.

  2. it is the same except the sound

  3. Well listen to Tenacious D, they play acoustic and still kick a**!

  4. The strings are the same and everything. It's just that there's an amp and it's shape's different. I actually find the electric easier to play. Hope I helped! :)
