  1. I got a work transfer from Manchester to Dublin 2yrs ago, I didnt know a soul and was really nervous as i had only booked the hotel for 1wk. I neednt have worried, the Irish are so friendly, welcoming and helpful that i had made about 10 friends within my 4hr working shift. They helped me find accomodation for the next 6m and I loved everything about Dublin. Unfortunately, my Mother died and my family needed me so I returned to the UK. Property prices have always been high but I will return one day long term. Its a lovely place to live. Good luck. If I can help you in any way, feel free to email me.

  2. Nope there's nothing official that you need, Dublin is very expensive city to live in though, about €950-1000 per month for a 1 bed apt, and roughly €5 for a pint.....saying that it's my home town and I love it and even though it's expensive people are fab, pub atmosphere is great and if it ever stops bloody raining it's quite nice to look at....

  3. Generally you'll just need ID and proof of your new address in order to open a bank account over here. You'll also have to register with the tax office to get a PPS number (this relates to your income tax, social welfare etc).

Once that's done, there should be no probs getting a job and working away. In many cases, your new employer will provide you with forms and advice on how to go about getting up and running. If you don't get your tax sorted out asap, then you get deducted emergency tax, which is a killer (like 40% of your wages!!).

Good luck and welcome to Ireland.

  4. no work permit unless you are a non EU country
