Has anyone any firsthand knowledge of a conductor being hired by BNSF that is currently working as a conductor for a short line railroad?

  1. Yes devil.  My dad used to work for the Illinois Terminal Railway in the late 70's as an engineer/conductor.  They got bought by the Norfolk and Western. So he moved out west to work for the then new BN.  Worked there for 20 some years. Worked his way up to trainmaster of the Powder river divison.  Now he works for the Alaskan.  One advantage of working for a short line you already know the book of rules, and have the basic training.

    hope this helps. errr
