  1. This depends on what you are going to study there. i.e Undergrad (equivalent to bachelor degree in the UK + 1 year study) or Grad (equivalent to Master degree in the UK). I went to the US to study from the UK. Well, I went there for MS in Management and had to give GMAT (Graduate management Aptitude test). For an undergrad study you need a SAT. Therefore it all depends what you are going to study. Hope this helps.

  2. To be accepted into a U.S. undergraduate program you must have three things:

    1) A Student Visa - This allows international students to travel to the US to study. You can find useful information here - http://educationusa.state.gov/usvisa.htm

    2)  SAT scores - This is a standardized test that all colleges require for admissions. You can find more information and register here - http://www.collegeboard.com/about/associ...

    3) TOEFL scores - This test allows international students to study in the US. You can learn more and register here -

To help you pay for your US education you can apply for scholarships. Scholarships are free sources of money that you can use to pay for your school expenses, and you don't have to pay them back! You can read more about them here:

If you can't get any scholarships then you can apply for a student loan. This means you will borrow the money to pay for college and then pay it back once you graduate. Here are sites that list international student loans:

I hope that this information helps guide you to a great education in the US. Good luck!

  3. Once you select the State of your choice, and then find your University, the information you need will be on their website. It is a fairly simple process really. I am going to Grad school in Milano and all I have to do is graduate, fill out their application, submit my transcripts and mail it to the university. I may even be able to qualify for some financial assistance there, as an American  citizen studying in Italy. It all depends on the school, so you need to hone in on a few colleges you are interested in and search their website for more specific information. Good luck to you.

  4. Yes it is possible.

If you are going for an undergraduate degree (Bachelor's), which I am assuming you are then most universities in the United States will require the following for admission:

    - Proof that you graduated high-school (Your GCSE's are enough to meet this requirement)

    - Proof that you have the funds to pay for your tuition and living expenses.

    - You will also be required to take the SAT I test and for competive schools the SAT II: Subject tests may also be required.

They are the three main requirements which you will need to meet. A-levels, while they are useful are not necessary to gain admission to a U.S. university.

As always the best source of information regarding admission requirements is the school's website, a quick google search for your chosen university will give you the correct link.

Of course once accepted and you have your I-20 you will need to schedule an interview at the U.S. Embassy in London for your F-1 (student) visa. Visit the website for more information on how to apply, again a quick search for 'U.S. Embassy in London' will give you the correct the link.
