Question:

Moving house help please?

We are building a home thats almost done, so should be moving within 2 months. Anyways, here the house is small, and the children have had to share a room, as the needed a room for their toys also (they are 4 and a half and 3).

When we move, they will both have their own room, and I know that they have gotten used to being together, but unfortunately it had to be done as when we put them together, we thought we would be in this house for at least 5 years.

Anyways, i am wanting help with transition to them being in their own rooms. Should I be starting now in the house they are familiar with? (My partner works nights so I am able to place one in the master room, whist I stay in the lounge room) or do you think being a new house, that they may find it easier to be separated when there? I have chatted to them both alot, to let them know they will have their own special room.

Needing some advice from parents that have been in a similar situation.

Thanks

  1. My brothers kids had to share a bedroom at their old place. And they recently moved to a house where they both have their own room. They completely adapted to it perfectly!

Once you move in - ask them how they want to decorate their rooms. Or start talking to them about it now and let them know they will have their own rooms and can choose what they want in there. Make them a part of the move and even now start asking them things like "who is putting this in their room when we move?' and let them decide. You'll be surprised at how well they will adapt. =)

  2. they will love to have their own room .not to panic, just prepare them they will like it .

  3. we moved into our house late last year and my daughter slept in the bed with us . so we had to get her in her own bed. to get her excited about having her own room we had her help us decorate it she picked the color and she picked out the bedding and everything it was all her idea and she is only 3 we of course narrowed it done to certain options but she liked what she picked and when it was all done she was happy to sleep in her own room. you should try that.
