  1. Don't pack anything you don't want. Try to downsize a bit, and pack the boxes according to which room they go in!

  2. Boxes.

    Bubble wrap the breakables.

  3. Label boxes eg. kitchen, bathroom etc

  4. Just make sure you write on the boxes what`s IN the box ! Use plenty of newspaper or if you have any polystyrene shapes for packing in between items to avoid damage. Make sure you know where the kettle, tea, coffee, etc are, for a drink.

  5. Good time to get rid of anything you dont use and then;

    Pack all towels and duvet sets etc in vacumm bags that you use the hoover to reduce their size especially with duvets, so much less room taken up transporting and once in new house.  find these in home stores, catalouges and online.

    Then pack all your kitchen ware into sperate small-medium boxes, ie plates all in a box they fit neatly in or packed out with paper.

    The box that glasses go in should have bubble wrap underneath on base of box then wrap in a sheet of paper individually (even if any do break the glass is contained.)

    Pack clothes in a 'summer wardrobe' labeled box and a 'winter' box, this way you know where things are if you dont have time/space to unpack everything straight away or the wardrobes arrive late.....It may be worth buying plastic storage boxes that you can keep the opposite seasons clothes in until that time of year - I have done this and it keeps the walk-in wardrobe MUCH easier to use and clutter free, after all most of the winter clothes you wont use for 6 months..

    keep books together and by type, box of cook books, box of novels, box of factual....This saves a lot of time when it comes to unpacking, especially if you have a bookcase in kitchen where you want cookbooks, bookcase in bedroom for novels or whatever, saves hunting through a massive box of jumbled up books.

    Also, decide what you want to move into first, what rooms  in what order when packing boxes into the van, say the bathroom first, so you put these in the van last, means you can get all the towels, toiletries etc into that room, then the bedroom, so you get all clothes in the wardrobe, duvets in the chest....Then the kitchen, and so on.

    Good luck, enjoy the new place!

  6. Write on the boxes, on all sides, with whats in them and what room to go in.

    Make sure the movers put it in the correct room.

    Mine didn't and I'm still finding things 10 weeks later !
