  1. Try baking soda, I tell you no lie I had the same situation when I moved to my new place.  I used baking soda listening to my grandmother and  it worked incredibly.  You will be amazed!

  2. yeah, lemons. Get a pack of lemons and clean with them .You will be amazed of the grime and damage they get rrid of, and all environmentally friendly too!

  3. Mix TSP with about 2 cups bleach in a bucket of hot water following the precise directions on the TSP box.  The combination will take off mildew stains and filth that nothing else (Tilex, bleach alone etc.) can touch.   You buy TSP at a dedicated paint store, it is usually not at Home Depot or Lowe's.  TSP is a specialized cleaner which is mainly used to thoroughly clean walls before painting, but it can also be used for super-heavy duty cleaning jobs like this.  I've been absolutely shocked at how well it works.

It is very powerful stuff. You need to wear rubber gloves, wear old clothes and be careful re painted surfaces, because it is strong enough to take off paint that is already peeling or loose.  Also open the windows while you are working and rinse the sponge out carefully when you are done.  It's nothing to play with, but it gets the job done.

For the hard water stains that remain, get CLR, it does a great job on hard water stains.

  4. All I need to say is...Magic Eraser!!!  If you haven't tried it, you should.  It works better than anything I've ever seen!

  5. Diamond try oxygen orange.  We buy at the dollar tree, it comes in orange bottle.  This cleaner is awesome cleaner for only one dollar.

  6. You can remove the worst stains with CLR and TSP, both can be bought at Lowes or Home Depot.

  7. steam cleaning.  dissolves and disinfects at the same time.  You may need some chemical help like CLR on the hard water deposits, though.
