What is the average rent per week? I am looking into moving out because me and my mum don’t see eye to eye, I have just finished college, and don’t have a job as per yet! I was thinking of applying to a council a couple of miles away to see if I could get a council house!

  1. Firstly, you won't get a council house.

I know someone who has been on the list for over 6 years, she isn't classed as a 'priority'.

    It depends where you live.

In London, you could be looking at over £500 per calendar month for a small 1 bedroom flat. If you look at areas such as Newcastle (not judging the place, I love Newcastle and it's cheaper housing) you could rent a 2 bedroom semi detached house for around £400 per calendar month.

    Try this site:

    www.rightmove.co.uk

You can use the rent search box and work out the averages for the area you want to live in.

Don't forget though, it isn't just rent you have to pay for!

  2. applying for a council house you will proberbly be on the list until you retire before you get one. The prices vary from location to location.  Start by searching the paper etc.

  3. haha getting a council house good luck lol.

it depends where abouts in the country u live to how much u pay, could be anything from £30-300 per week

  4. you will be waiting AGES for a council property, years maybe so i wouldnt suggest that.

rent prices totally depend on the kind of accomodation e.g houseshares will be cheaper say £70 per week or a decent flat to yourself can be anywhere from £350-£600 a month!

it also deppends on the location of the place aswell, the nearer to city centres you live, the more expensive it gets, obviously thats because you are nearer to local ameneties and that bumps the price up.

studio flats tend to be  cheap and chirpy -but the problem with those is that the bedroom living room and kitchen etc are all in one room, but if you dont mind that then i suggest looking into studio flats as they are not as expensive.

GOOD LUCK hunny hope you get somewhere. x x x
