Moving out of state.?

I've decided that I'm going to move from California to Arizona. I currently live with my sister and her boyfriend. Many things have factored into my decision to leave California. I plan to do this in about 6 months. I'm moving back in with my folks for that time and then heading off. I've found some nice apartments on rent.com within my price range. I also plan to stay with my current job employer, and transfer to one of their buildings out in AZ. I haven't seen these apartments in person yet. When is a good time to see them? I plan to move in March. I want to see them first of course. I'm just scared that I won't get a vacant spot in time. How do I go about getting a lease from the apartment before I plan to move? I just don't want to show up with my stuff and be like, 'okay, rent me an apartment'. How long should I wait before I contact them to do all of the paperwork? I've never moved out of state before and it's a 6 hour drive from CA to AZ.

  1. Most apartment complexes I found - the renters had to give a 60 day notice to the landlord.

So I would say you should visit around 60-65days before you're planning on moving in.

If there are certain apartments that you are really interested in, call them up and ask them how much notice renters have to give for renewing their lease (30 or 60days)
