Question:

Moving out of the country: best option to redirect mail?

by  |  earlier

I am moving out of the country next week.

What would be the best option for my mail?

- Transfer my personal mail to my company in the US?

- Rent a PO Box? (problem is: needs to be emptied every now and then)

- Is it possible to transfer my mail to Mexico?

- Other idea?

Thanks!

  1. Get the post office to do it.  It will cost you something, but not much.  They will put a time limit on it though, and then you might have to extend that for a bit longer.

  2. Not sure what country you are in, so it is hard to give the most accurate advice. You can normally have your mail forwarded (re-routed) to you in the US. I would ask your company permission before sending your mail there (they might agree if you do it temporaily). You might have a friend/family member take care of it until you have an address for it to be forwarded to. Also, do you need all the mail being sent to you? You can also contact each company that sends you mail/bills and inform them of your new address in the US. Alternatively, contact the companies and ask them to send you correspondence by e-post rather than paper mail.

    Good luck with the move!
