I currently own my own business in hyde,England. I am marrying my fiance and she will be moving over here with me until we get my business in the position where I wont have to physically be and live here in the uk, we then want to move to Florida in the US. Is this possible. Is this even legal? to run my business from the U.S and have my employees and clients in the uk. I will not be doing any business with any USC! (really the only difference would be is where "I" am physically located.

I need to know if this is legal? and if so? what are the steps that I need to take in order to avoid problems and bumps in the future?

Note:(This is my fiance's yahoo account)

  1. The US taxes worldwide income for all citizens and residents, so even if you continue your biz in the UK & do no biz whatsoever in the US, it all has to be reported and US income taxes paid on it.  This is a big difference from the UK and elsewhere.  Also, if you're resident in the US, you start paying US income taxes, and if you leave, you keep paying US income taxes for 10 years after departure.

You might want to rethink this.  Being subject to US taxes is hazardous to your sanity and financial health.

  2. sure it is legal. just get your green cards and come on to the good old U S A.

  3. Are you or your fiancee a U.S. citizen? If not, then how are you planning to *move* to the U.S?

    Edit:

Actually ibu, the UK and the US has what is known as a tax treaty, you will only pay taxes in one country and not them both. However, one still has to, by law, to file tax returns in the U.S. even if the income is taxed in the U.K, but they will not be dual taxed.
