Moving to Australia from the UK for at least a year: How much money per month will i need?

Hiya,

I plan to move to Australia for at least a year and although at some point I plan to get a job (I am aware of working Visa's) how much would people say I will spend per month?

The kind of lifestyle I will lead will be modest Hostels etc but will want to eat out and socialise when possible with a bit of travelling about.

Any advice is greatly recieved.

i don't live in Australia but i think it's cheaper than the UK

That's a very difficult question to answer, but your hostel accomodation will cost up to $30 per day. Add $20 for food only days and say $40 to $60 for each socialising/eating out day plus travel expenses (who knows for them??) and see if you can work it out from there.

Don't, I made the same mistake, (well, not really, I was forced to move here with my parents) from Sheffield and Australia is a dump. Trust me on this one buddy, you'll regret it. If you do plan on comming after my strong words of wisdom, don't come to Adelaide, or Sydney. Both are hole's. Melbourne's nice if you like the city life.
