  1. Hi Meg!  Well first of all you and your brother are going to have a GREAT time in Australia: most teenagers here have a lot of freedom and a very high standard of living.

Ian is right in saying it makes a big difference which state you live in: I'm in Melbourne, Victoria, and we don't  have SACEs - we have TER scores for university entrance.  There are many good unis in Victoria, and which one you choose depends very much on what course you want to do, as different unis specialise in different areas.

As for your brother getting bullied: I doubt if he'd be bullied for being English, but they will almost certainly TEASE him about his accent.  It really depends on his personality: if he makes friends readily and especially if he likes sport, he will get on fine. Australia is a melting pot of different cultures and ethnic groups and in schools the different groups all tease each other.  The "wogs" (southern Europeans) call the Aussies (white anglo-saxons) "skips", and so forth.

You're very welcome to email me for further info.

  2. depends whereabouts in Australia your moving to

if your moving to victoria then you would have finished high school already? you could go to university. some of them have colleges, but thats optional. the best ones here are melbourne uni or monash uni. or you could go to tafe. whatever you want to do. and your brother would be in like yr 11 next year. and he would do vce. its a really hard thing to explain, the people doing it dont even know what it is lol you just do the year and try to get a good ENTER score. which then helps you get a uni placement.

and as for being bullied, if hes a nice guy i dont htink he'll have a problem with it. people in Australia are pretty accepting of other countries and cultures.

hope you have fun whereever you go

  3. Hey....

Its depend what states are you gonna be there?

If Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra.. its gonna be hard for you and your brother, because school system over there is really tight... if he want to have a job straight away, he should go 2 college then TAFE. but in High school your brother and you need 22 SACE units after grade or year 12 for UNI. also its depend what course you want to be after year 12 and your TER score.

Well that all i know about it soo far i've 14 SACE units and i live in Adelaide, its probably different Education system with Sydney, MELBOURE, Canberra.

Well Best of luck for you 'n your brother...
