Question:

Moving to Cabo- Average Housing Costs?

Moving to Cabo. I already live in MX, and moving in a few weeks but having a hard time weeding through all the temporary vacation rentals. Can anyone tell me what I can expect to pay for rent in Cabo San Lucas or San Jose del Cabo? I'm looking for something nice but not luxury, at least 1 bedroom, preferably 2.

I know where I live in Puerto Vallarta, rentals are advertised pretty expensive, but it's easy to find something nice for $700 USD a month. Is this feasible in Los Cabos too? Any tips?

  1. Hi, I think I can help you with housing in Los Cabos.

Please write to linlithgow76@yahoo.com  and I´ll e-mail back with useful information.

If someone else is moving to Cabo San Lucas or San Jose del Cabo I´ve made a research of long term listings available in the area. Absolutely free of charge.

  2. Hi Elle

Rentals are about the same as in PV, I sure you find something nice for $700 or less.

First of all, you need to know where are you going to work/live, in Cabo San Lucas or San Jose del Cabo, they are 20 miles apart, but driving in rush hours can take you 45 minutes or more.

The safest, is find something in the corridor, but not too many options, specially under $2,000.

Check The Gringo Gazette ($1 USD?) or Cabo Market (Spanish), they have listings all the time.

If you have friends already here, they may know someone, who knows somebody, who is renting, maybe...

    Be patient, good luck

  3. 8 million dollars

  4. Hola!  You are going to be shocked at the cost of living here.  I live in SJD, a 1 bedroom and pay $1000 a month, not to mention a crazy hydro bill.   There are lots of options though.  One is that you put an advertisement in for housesitting.  Lots of houses that sit empty for long periods.  Two, try a rental management company through any of the many real estate agencies.  Three, I notice there are 1/2 a dozen rental advertisements in the Gringo Gazette....watch the paper.  You may have to consider short term...or even a homestay.  I did this and it was wonderful, because I had 3 square meals a day and a nice little room with little bathroom.

Los Cabos is the most expensive place in Mx.
