Do I still have to pay taxes? If so, would I just file as though I am self-employed at the end of the year?

  1. no you will not have to pay taxes IF it's an expatriate deal. and i am unsure about it if you are self-employed.

  2. See IRS publication 54.  Read it carefully.

If you made more than $8950, you must file.  If you meet the qualifications for form 2555, you may be able to exclude some or all of the income you have in China.  If you have income besides that, you may owe tax and this will be at a higher tax bracket than you are used to.

If you are employed by someone else, you file as if you had received a W-2 (convert the money to USD).  If you are self-employed, you report it as self-employment income.

  3. You are exempt on earnings up to $80,000 per year while working overseas.  You still need to file a tax report, though.

  4. well you don't have to pay taxes like when you buy something you pay extra but like you still have to pay your regular taxes and stuff and i think filing it like that would be fine =)
