  1. This may not help at all, but I went to Ireland in October.  I exchanged $700 and got 500 Euro.  Everything I bought cost a little more as well.  In the US you'd pay $1.25 for a 20 oz. bottle of pop, over there its 1.35-1.40 Euro.  And the bottle is smaller.  You pay more and get a little less from what I gathered.  However, I didn't notice myself going broke too much quicker than on a vacation in the States.  Plus, Dublin is gorgeous and I really didn't care.

  2. A lot better than the USA.

80% of USA, for example is owned by just over 7% of its people.

The average house price is 400,000 EUROS.

    Average wage 26000 euros.

Taxes take up around 35% of this but there is very low unemployment.

A good car is at least 9,000 with 2500 taxes a year (very high, i know) BUT Dublin has brilliant public transport (the luas line and buses).

Groceries cost over 130 euros a week for my family of 4.

    GOOD LUCK!
