Hey I'm moving to Dublin in August 2008 but still haven't found a place to stay. Anyone have any tips? I'll pay 350 E, but not much more. Preferably somehing a little central or with easy traveling to the city. Anyone who can help me out?

  1. That's really not a lot of money if you want to live near the city centre, you will have to share a room with someone. Go on to www.daft.ie to get an idea of how much it is to rent in different areas of the city. It will also show you on a map exactly where the house is.

We currently pay E1500 for a 3 bed house in Fairview which is about a half an hour walk to the city centre and that isn't particularly high rent.

  2. Try myhome.ie , the rentals section.

Dublin can be expensive to rent in. Drumcondra is good with easy access to the city centre, so is Rathmines and Ranelagh. There are many places along the Dart and Luas lines that have great transport to the city centre. Do you know what location you'll be working in??

  3. http://www.daft.ie ... its where everyone goes so check it out, much better than myhome.ie

  4. That's a really low amount of money, you're going to find it hard to find something good for that.

Myhome.ie and Daft.ie are both good places. There's also Gumtree.ie and  http://dublin.craigslist.org are good for roomates.

The Luas and the Dart are both good options for public transportation.

The Luas is particularly crowded, but new and runs frequently. The green line goes through the South side (posh side of town) Ranelagh, Beechwood, Cowper and Milltown are good locations. (After Beechwood walking in to the city center is kind of far).

The red line goes along the north and west of the city, and should be more affordable. I know someone who lives in Smithfield and likes it.

The Dart is a commuter train, still runs frequently and goes farther out. You can live along the water, which is nice, but you won't really be walking distance to town.
