  1. hi

well cost of living is extremly high in ireland so you will need plenty of savings.

the weather is pretty wet but it can become lovly in summer(tho not this summer)

jobs are drying up especially in the construction industry so your husband may have trouble finding work.

english is obviously the most widly spoken language though some parts of galway speak only gaeilge.

    good luck with everything!!!

  2. Galway and Languages

In parts of Galway, Irish is the main spoken language, not English - and don't be fooled, they are COMPLETELY different. This is an example of a website in Irish: http://www.gaelport.com/ - that said, they can speak English too, but where Irish the day to day language, you'll feel isolated if you don't speak it.

    Jobs

At the moment, jobs are few and far between - and the situation is getting worse. Unless either of you is an Irish citizen (eg if one of your or his grandparents were Irish) - they are not going to give you a visa to work as a beautician or a secretary, or your boyfriend as a construction labourer.

    Weather

    Wet.

    Costly

Yes, even if you find a place that has cheap rent, the cost of food etc is expensive, however, there are no rates (local taxes) and water is free (at least at the moment).
