  1. i studied at ucc, cork, aeons ago,1991.i didnt bring my tv with me,as they do have tv sets in ireland,i dont get your question.anyhow i spent so much time in the Western Star and Crows Nest pubs with my friends i did not watch alot of tv.we watched the rugby, hurling, soccer, debated ,partied, studied, met up,bought sausages in the english market on grand parade, went to the movies at the Capital cinema.you dont need to bring a tv with you.

  2. hi you

this is a trike one, most TV`s in Europe work on what the call the pal system but not all on the same version of pal which is the problem i know as i have two that there are makes and of TV that will allow you to work you TV on anyone of the pal versions to check this out you`will have to check the book to see will it work on pal version - i as for the power supply we have 220 volts and/or 50 magh`s here in Ireland

  3. Err, this is tricky. There are different variations of the PAL standard. Ireland and the UK use PAL-I while the rest of western Europe use PAL-B or PAL-G, while eastern Europe uses PAL-D or PAL-K, Brazil uses PAL-M, Paraguay and Uruguay use PAL-N, etc. The difference is mostly in the frequency spacing between the different channels (7 or 8 Megahertz), so you may find that you can receive pictures but not sound. It may be a better idea for you to sell the tv in Switzerland and buy a new one in Ireland.

EDIT: A thought: even if your TV isn't able to receive analogue signals in Ireland, perhaps if you subscribed to a digital service - satellite or cable, (DVB digital terrestrial is still only experimental in Ireland) then presumably you could get the signal from the digibox to your tv via a SCART cable, which would avoid the problem of the different sorts of PAL.

  4. Why would you bring a tv? The cost of transport will probably exceed buying one here - they are not expensive!
