Moving to Ireland.?

Question

My boyfriend and I want to move to Ireland but we are not sure where to start. We live in California and he operates heavy machinery and I have a master's degree in Speech Pahthology. Any ideas for towns or areas to move to that would have a good job market for our skills?

stay close to the big cities.  dublin belfast.  i lived in fordstown navan co. meath.  about an hr drive nw of dublin.  average commute for here and probably a lot less stressfull than in cali.  i liked the towns of trim and kells.  of course you can settle in dublin if you are more into living in cities.  beautiful town.  all of the towns are quaint and picturesque.  would love to go back to where i lived in fordstown navan again.  galway may be another place to look too.  didnt spend much time there but when i was there the weather was always nice, but windy.  you can find jobs and accomodations online.  not sure about the working visas etc. etc.  i have been told that they are difficult to get.

I would suggest you find a job before you move.

Cost of living in Ireland is twice the price than in the states in general.

Housing price arround Dublin  is same as California, but cars, food... everything is arround 50 to 100 % more expensive than USA...

hi if you look on the internet all info is on....my boyf is irish but we live in uk i know we will eventially make the move back to ireland, have  u considered Dublin. it is capital and id say open to many jobs in particular 4 our boyf Cafferkey developments deals with heavy machinery, my boyf used to work 4 them driving a 40ton dump truck

                  I have just answered your other question so you already have an idea of what kind of answer you can expect for this particular query.

                  First of all I would strongly advise ye both to think this move out very carefully. Work in Ireland is very thin on the ground for the pay ye both seek, and housing has prices to suit those heading for housing on the moon, (Sky High ),

                  A lot of people would recommend Dublin as a starting point, meself I would opt for Galway, much better lifestyle and easier on the pocket-book, your Masters degree would come in real handy at Galway regional Hospital, as the speeching in Ireland is a bit raw. and Galway at this time is going through a lot of building work, that needs heavy machine operators, and with your young mans qualification, it could land ye both in the good bopoks not only with potential employers but also the Immigration Department too.

             Oh, Kelly I do hope I have managed to assist you in finding what ye both seek...England gave me a great living in my job as a heavy Truck driver, which broadened my horizons all over Europe too... You could try Paddy in Cork, or Murphy in Dublin. They know everybody.
