  1. From where are you leaving? The USA? Australia? England? These questions are important.

Personally, I would not try to transport a television by airplane or even by other shipping methods. It can be cost prohibitive and the risk of damage is pretty high. Besides, televisions in Madrid can be relatively cheap - depending on the size and type, of course. (you can get a decent 20" LCD television for about 200 Euros) Plus, if you're moving from the USA you won't be able to use the TV in Spain because of the difference in electrical currents - unless you want to buy an electrical converter which won't likely convert the current 100% correctly for your USA-bought television. If you're moving to Spain permanently, you might instead consider selling the television and using that money towards the cost of a new one after arriving in Madrid.

As for the clothing, just take/check an extra suitcase or two and pay the extra-checked-bag charge at the airport which is likely to be cheaper than sending it through a shipping company.

    Good luck in Madrid, Spain!

  2. You need to check with stores like UPS, and the Post office.  We couldn't begin to tell you since you didn't give a start point.

Are you making the move permanent?  Why must you take the television?  Can't you just make do with whatever you can get there?

I'm not even sure that your television will work there?  I know that VCRs ar different in Spain than other countries, so you want to be sure that it will even work before you go taking it into the country.

And as for your luggage itself, you want to check with the airline.  I have been hearing how they ARE charging per bag, and they have always had weight and size limits, but they are getting stricter.

  3. It would depend on the weight, not on the actual item. Perhaps, have a small container made from wood or steel and see how much it would cost a freight shipping company to ship the container as a whole. They will be able to give you a price estimate on many different weights. You cannot check a TV in at the airport. They have become so strict with things like that, and also, you stand a great risk of it being broken when you land, as luggage and parcels are often thrown and tossed, not picked up and put down.

  4. well.. first it depends where you are moving from...

clothes you could take along in your bags, and depending on the airline you are allowed a certain amount/size of baggage which is included in your fare...  as for the tv, thats going to cost quite a bit, and its probably worth just leaving it behind and buying a new tv when you get there...

once you book a ticket, check with your airline to see your luggage allowances...
