Hello,

I am a sunni-muslim Pakistani/Canadian man (both citizenships). I am going to finish my computer science degree (undergraduate) soon and will do my Masters degree. I am right now in Canada and also do a part time IT job.

I am thinking about moving to Malaysia (to Kuala Lumpur).

I have the following questions:

. How are Pakistanis and Canadians treated in Malaysia?

. It is easy to find IT/Computer Science jobs in Malaysia?

. Can I bring my parents to Malaysia to live with me?

  1. Your employer will have to obtain your employment visa.  No one on an employment visa can sponsor immigrants, e.g. parents.  But you may be able to get a dependent's visa for a spouse and child.  Single-status assignments are not unusual -- depends on the job, where assigned, etc.

Illegal immigration from India & Pakistan has led to a lot of resentment of Indians & Pakistanis.  They also have a reputation for arrogance, which is not at all culturally acceptable in Malaysia (& Singapore too, to some extent).

Malaysia is focused on promoting its own citizens into good tech/computer/communications jobs, and actively pursuing job creation for Malaysians, education & training, etc.  They have some good programs developed over the past 20+ years.  Your employer, if you find one, will have to convince immigration authorities that there are no qualified Malaysians, and that is an increasingly hard sell.

Malaysia has made incredible strides in the past 30 years.  I always liked Malaysia alot.
