Has any of you moved to Manhattan from UK? If so can you tell me your experiences and pro's and con's etc. Is it true that you need to be eraing a 6 figure salary to live in Manhattan? Which parts would you recommend to live in? I plan to move their once I finish my Law degree here in England, how much can a Lawyer expect to make in Manhattan? Thanks in advance for your answers.

  1. I've lived in NYC all my life and I could tell you right now, you definitely need a six or seven digit  salary to afford even a studio apartment. I suggest you live in a good neighborhood and share a "flat" with someone. BTW- I suggest you stock up on frozen vegetables and canned food because as a student you wont be able to afford eating out and the groceries cost MUCHO! BTW- if you get a chance, get your clothes and food in brooklyn- Much cheaper. good luck. buy earplugs- manhattan is NEVER quiet.

  2. My sister in law lives in Manhattan, she couldn't afford to live there is she had to depend on the 6 figure salary she makes and was only able to move there because her mother bought her an apartment.

Your Law degree from England won't get you work in the USA. You need an American Law degree (postgraduate) to practice here. Every state has it's own requirements.
