  1. 1. if you are a jamaican by birth or parents, contact the jamaican consulate to get information as a 'returning resident'. You will pay low or no duty on the items you need to import. If you are not a citizen u may be able to get some concessions on items but not as much.

    Important items would include,

      -   Automobile

      -   Household electronics

      -   Furniture

      -   Clothes

      -   Proffesional Tools

    2. Good Jobs in Mobay are mostly in Banking Services, Tourism (Resturants or Hotels) or Travel (Air Jamaica or other smaller operators). Get a job BEFORE you move back to jamaica. At least arrange enough interviews for serious jobs. Make sure that you can get a job in your particular field, that can pay the bills you are planning to rack up! Jobs are NOT automatic and the pay is NOT near US or UK rates. In many cases its not even half.

    3. Your new employer may be able & willing to assist in the cost of the moving process if your services are unique and in high demand locally.

    4. Healthcare is decent in Jamaica, if you have a decent job that comes with Health Insurance, etc. In montego bay there is Cornwall Regional Hospital. There are also more expensive private medical facilities.

    5. Childcare & Nurseries - This will seriously depend on where you are employed. Most large hotels have Child-care services for staff. Although its not free it is at least safe & convenient.

  2. depending on what skills u have, it relatively easy 2 find a job (mostly out by the free-zone area which is just some big u.s. owned companies like sprint n jobs in the telecommunication field). anyway whichever company u work for here, u can get health insurance or something lyk that which the company allows u 2 sign up for. its basically a health card in which wen u go 4 dentist visits, or doctor visits or net hing 2 do with medical the card gives u a discount or pays it all for u, n since is u n ur son, he can get one 2 with the same plan. the are alot of nurseries in and around montego bay but depending on where u plan 2 live, n ur transport, one shouldn't b easy 2 find. my friend's parents own 1 out by Catherine Hall called Day & Night Kids which by the name, u can say that they keep ur kids both during the day and night if u have business to do. concernin the visas u would have 2 call the jamaican embassy, cuz im not 2 sure about that, since i'm only 14 years old. with transportation, its most of the time easy to get a taxi but very hassling. if u plan 2 buy a vehicle, its kinda expensive but if u have the money to buy one, i suggest u do it, my dad works for the jamaica tourist board so he would have more advice to give u on what 2 do and what not 2 do. oh and feel free to to take anything u think will make u comfortable, especially ur son as its hard 4 young children 2 cope with moving, also u can tell him hi 4 me 2 :) lol

  3. My first question would be what would you be contributing to the country?

    What are your expectations?

You have a two year old son...... what about his future??

What kind of job would you be looking at getting into?

The health care system of course does not compare to the UK,US or Canada but it is decent if you can afford it. Be cognizant that you may be getting 3rd world advice
