Moving to NYC - best neighborhood for 20 something in NYC metro area

I am looking to move to Queens area with my gf. She works in western Long Island and I work in Manhattan. What is a great neighborhood for 20 somethings that is relatively close to the city, decent cost, great nightlife/restaurants, accessible to public transportation. We are looking to invest together. I have heard Astoria, Bayside etc. Is there anything else

Try upper east and west side of manhattan as well as the village great areas to live an excellent night life for young and old. Queens by far you get more for your money but nightlife just isn't there.
