  1. I would suggest touring the many different neighborhoods to start.  Many people here consider the neighborhood they live in to be part of their identity.  That way, when you meet someone and they say, "I live in Ballard," it'll help you know where they're from and why they might live there.  All of the neighborhoods have a different feel, lots of fun shops, restaurants, coffee houses, etc.

The next thing I would recommend is going to some of the Seattle parks.  This is where Seattlites hang out and spend their leisure time.  Check out the Locks, Golden Gardens, Green Lake, Gasworks Park, Discovery Park, the Arboretum, Alki, Kubota Gardens, Lincoln Park, Seward Park, etc.

Too, when I first moved here, I took the Underground Tour, read some books, trying to get to know the history and culture of Seattle.  Might just check out the burbs too, to see what they're like.

    Anyway, welcome to Seattle!

  2. You could go to the Space Needle its cool to see around New years cuz they have fireworks their and also 4th of July.

  3. Public transportation is absolutely terrible (or non-existant) in Seattle, but riding one of the few buses through the bigger districts might help you get a feel.  Ride (or drive, stopping to walk around) in Ballard, Green Lake, Capitol Hill, SoDo (South of Downtown), and Fremont.

The downtown is not big at all.  Walk it, preferrably up and down the avenes (which run north-south).  Take the trolley where you can along the waterfront and up to Jackson or so.  Walk north from there.

  4. You absolutely have to go to the pike place market. You can check out the first starbucks, sit on the water front, buy fresh produce, watch the flying fish, and just feel the real seattle busy streets and happiness!

  5. lucky you, boat rides are lots of fun, visit the light houses, peer 70,have the time of your life.
