Moving to Sydney from Melbourne for work ; where should I rent?

Hi. I am a young professional living in Melbourne, got a good job offer in Sydney and may be moving there soon. The job is going to be based in the suburb of Minto (Southwest, near Campbelltown).

Preferably I'd like to rent reasonably close to my place of work, with good access to public transport as I won't have access to a car for a while.

Want to avoid suburbs with serious crime/drugs problems. I know about the bad-rep for all of Southwest Sydney suburbs, but are there areas which are relatively secure?

I am not concerned about proximity to clubs, bars, nightclubs and party-spots. I am something of a workaholic. Yes, I am a very boring person.

Which suburbs do you think I could look at renting?

  1. Don't rent around Redfern

  2. the lower north shore is the best place in sydney however it is miles and miles away from minto. so yeah it sucks your job is all the way out there because yeah the safest and nicest places r lower north shore. mosman, neautral bay area.

normally they have harbour views and nice scenery too.

i agree with the first person. as long as its not redfern pretty much everywhere in sydney is the same.

maybe you should look for a place in minto/cambelltown area?? i really dont know that area that well so i cant suggest any places in that area

if you live near the city it takes roughly about an hour to get there so yeah its abit far from the city area too. so my suggestion is maybe move/live in a place in that area.. cambelltown/minto etc unless you want to commute for awhile.
