  1. Never actually done it but moved lots of appliances, try to put them on one side near the back so they are easier to get through the house.Get them hooked up and going.Probably dressers  beds and such big items in rear so boxes can be spread in correct rooms. Also might depend on size of van.

  2. Just did that Friday for my daughter.  Put the couch and heavy stuff in first, filling it up with boxes.

Take two days or 6 people.  The three of us did her apartment in 1 day, but it also took a full day to recover.  Feet are still swollen now, but better.

  3. I am moving next month, my uncles are helping me, the heavy stuff will go in first, with boxes filling in along the way, make sure you have moving blankets to keep your stuff clean and secure the boxes if you place them on top of stuff. I am going to put as much stuff as possible in my car, I am not looking forward to this move as I've been in the same house now for 18 years...but am doing a good job with getting everything labeled and having my stuff I'll need quick clearly marked.

  4. Ok I have helped my brother move 7 times in the past year. But beds, couches and washer and dryer all the way in the back. Then put light stuff in the front

  5. Put all the big stuff in first and then put the boxes in front, on top of, and in between (if there's room.) The good thing is appliances and furniture aren't usually tall enough to reach the ceiling so any (non breakable) boxes can go up on top of them. The opposite wouldn't work, of course, so big stuff first!

  6. The heaviest items should be place in front of the rear wheel position and toward the front of the cargo bed.  This will distribute the weight more evenly and help prevent shifting of the cargo. Putting mattresses and box springs between large items also helps prevent shifting. Start loading in the front with any solid frame furniture on the bottom; add boxes and lighter items on top to the roof; keep loading in this fashion until you get to the rear of the truck. Take the time to load everything carefully in all available space. Not knowing how much you have to move, a rule of thumb is to use a truck with an 18' cargo bed for a 3-bedroom home.  Depending upon the amount, you may still have to make 2 trips.
