I'm movng from Chicago to Hilo Hawaii very shortly. My apt is only semifurnished. I'm gonna need all my bed sheets, pillow cases, my comforter and some extra blankets just for the bedroom. Should I just pack a big cardboard box of things and ship it so I need so i don't have to go buy new everything??

  1. Check the cost to see if it is worthwhile.

  2. You really do need to check the cost of shipping versus the cost of buying new things, but I think it will be cheaper to ship at least some things.  Many people don't realize that the post office is often the cheapest way to ship things, so go on the USPS site and experiment with what it would cost to ship boxes of different sizes and weights from your current address to your new address (there is a postal calculator on the site).  You may want to do two or three medium sized boxes as often it costs considerably more to mail very large boxes.
