Question:

Moving to another state in winter?

It's only one state over, but my boyfriend, who is moving with me, is worried about the job situation. How difficult is it to transfer jobs (he's a phlebotomist)? We are going a month before our move to look for apartments and his job (mine is taken care of) and to look at my school. Is this sufficient time? The place we're moving to is a sister city to where I live now, but I've never actually lived in or moved to a different state, so any advice on how to make this a smooth move will help! Thanks!

  1. Why not let him continue to work until he finds a job, then move? It seems he could find a job fairly easily (if they have hospitals and such in the new area). Thereis no reason for him to s***w himself. Why isn't he looking now? He could setup a group of interviews for a day or two. It amazes me that he hasn't already been looking and applying. You don't have to be there to do that.

  2. Your best bet is to have him start looking for jobs NOW, online, in the paper, etc. and have him call people to set up interviews for when you both go down there.

That way, he has options already lined out, and has a better chance of finding a job before you actually move.

Its always better to have everything set in stone, then all you need to worry about is the actual move, rather than moving, finding a job, and getting settled in.

Make sure he's consistent on calling and checking up and verifying his interview dates - that way the interviewer knows he's serious, and he's more likely to get a job quicker.

    =)
