  1. I was doing some searching on the same subject today and found this blog about belize. You might find some information there: http://moving-to-belize.blogspot.com

  2. i believe i'd try it .  have you been there ?

assume you are retiring ?  o r have a job there already ?

see an accountant ... if you exit country ... i think you pick a cheapest income tax for state residence first ?     there is an exit tax for 10 years when US citizen leaves  if you are taking more than 80 K  I think ?     i would get proper financial planning prior to moving.   keep your citizenship so you have your options open .   maybe have dual citizenship if that is recognized ?

  3. Heard the crime rate was pretty high in Belize city, but other then that I believe it is one of the most beautiful places on the earth

  4. My wife and I moved to Belize from the States about two years ago and live in Belmopan.  There is a lot to like about Belize - English speaking, slower pace of life, etc.  But in many ways it is very different from the States as well.  We are glad we moved down here but I would advise coming for a visit and seeing several parts of the country first just to make sure it is the place for you.  The other consideration is that the ability to find jobs here is limited and there may not be openings in your field.  However, if you are interested in starting a business it is definitely encouraged and they make it pretty easy to get permanent residency as well.

Take care and good luck on your decision.
