My hubby is in the navy and just found out that we are moving to norfolk virginia by the end of august. So hows the lifestyle? and what area should we go to find an apartment? i want a decent area and not around the ghetto. Maybe closer to the military base? and schools cause i have a 3 yr old son turning 4 soon. Of course when my husband deploys, im going to be home with just my son and i want the area to be safe also. Please give me lots of infos cause we are going to be there for a while.

THANKS PEOPLE!

  1. Its cool my cousins lived there before they moved to V.A Beach. My cousin's husband is in the Navy. You'll like it...be prepared to pick up an accent.

  2. My husband and I just moved from Norfolk to San Diego September of last year, he is also in the navy. I am pretty sure that all of Norfolk is the ghetto, we lived with my brother in a bad neighborhood but my other brother lived about 5 minutes away and I guess his neighborhood was bad but it looked like the ghetto. If he is at Little Creek base stay away from any neighborhoods off of East Little Creek and Little Creek. If you find an apartment or home i would google map it and see the distance from that street. We lived on Galveston Blvd and right across little creek was apartments filled with drug dealers and gangs, cops would always be sitting in the parking lot waiting for something to happen because something usually did. If he is stationed at Dam Neck then anywhere is Virginia Beach is nice.
