  1. You can find some good info on Romania here:

  2. Poorest country in Eu!!!!!Euro Union rural, small cars apartment buildings, forests, stray dogs cats, not the best education in world well thats bout it please dont report cause thats the truth you want source? wikipedia.org Search romania

  3. It would be very nice if you could at least give me a location in Romania as there are great regional variations in cost of living, etc.

I assume your husband got a job in a multinational company, which i suppose means that there a high chance that job will be located in Bucharest, the capital city.

Romania is a safe country, and quite cheap in many ways, seeing that you are british. I've lived there for a while, I also lived in Florida , USA and the prices i've seen and experienced in the UK  are by far the highest...

If you will live somewhere in Bucharest or close to there, you will surely find a nice english school/preschool at very affordable prices. Normally they include transportation, lunch, etc.

Can't say too without knowing where exactly you plan to relocate. Please come back with more details.

In the meanwhile i can give you a few websites to check out:

Well, now i know it's Bucharest so i can tell you a bit about prices and stuff.

A nice modern apartment in the city or towards the outskirts, in a good area, will go about 700-1500 euro (500-1100 GBP), in a 2-3 bedroom, nicely furnished apartment/house. I don't think you need to pay more than that.

Also, i don't know what you're personal preferences are (suburb or city living), but in Bucharest, to live in one of the poshier areas of North Bucharest (which have prices 1000 EUR+ , even 3000 EUR) is quite annoying because of the horrible, horrible traffic...forget London, that's a breeze, N. Bucharest moves at 1 mph in the busy morning traffic, you will take 1-2 hours to get from there to the city (20 km - 12 Miles away from the city)

So I'd recommend searching in the sector 1 area (there's 6 sectors that the city is divided in), towards the north...

Baneasa, Primaverii, Pipera, Piata Victoriei, Piata Aviatorilor , Herastrau, is some of the areas to look at. Careful with the real estate people as they are big SHARKS !

The metro is the way to travel and that's why i think one of the main requirements an apartment should suffice is proximity to the tube...

The metro is by far the fastest way of travel in Bucharest, it is dirt cheap (compared to London), you pay about 5-6 pounds for a month pass !! It is also very clean and civilized.

    I really don't recommend driving inside Bucharest , it's a nightmare...

Most English schools are also in that area of Bucharest bcoz most of the english speaking foreigners live around there. There lots of restaurants as well, with  reasonable prices, comparing it to the UK (10-15 GBP for 3 meal course, 2 person).

Have a nice time in Romania and in Bucharest in particular. I hope you'll have time to experience the unbeaten tracks in our beautiful and unspoiled countryside, especially in the regions of Transylvania and Bucovina. You will find tranquility and peace at it's best...

Don't hesitate to contact me via personal message in case you have some other questions related to this matter that you can't find information about on the internet.

P.S. If you have some money to invest and want to get a great return on your money, you may also consider buying a house in the suburbs or a city apartment, as there are great return rates (to give you an example, in one year (2007-2008) prices rose in Bucharest apartments 30-80%.
