Moving to spain next year, anyone know of a good private medical scheme?, and how much will it cost?

You will need to see when you get here, many private clinics are associated with a particular company and it makes life simple then to ensure the cover is what you want and is easy to use. There are two big companies in the area where I am ASSSA & El Perpetuo Sorocco, I use the latter and pay approx 50€ a month.

As with any insurance, all pre-exisiting conditions have to be listed and some may not be covered, but the policy will detail all of that when you receive the paperwork back

All prescriptions are private, even those from the health service GP's unless you are retired or fulfil certain criteria.

Premiums are reliant on the information given in the declaration, so what I pay is only appropriate for me but I have mentioned it as a guideline

We got quotes from Sanitas (BUPA) for my husband and myself.  They wanted 200 euros a month for both of us.  Got a much better deal with DKV Seguros and we are only paying 115 a month.  Don't forget that the Spanish health service is excellent.  If you are paying into the Spanish economy and have a social security card then it is free.  All emergency treatment is also free to EU citizens on presentation of the new E1:11 card.

you could try medifiat or sanitas (bupa)  i'm with sanitas and they are really good.  I pay around 500 euro per 6 months. but there are deals for families etc...  The spanish healthcare NHS is excellent too.  so don't rule that out.  But you have to be working before you're entitled to use it for free
