  1. From personal experience you will find getting a license very difficult, the Spanish give all fishing licenses too their own people first, maybe we should do the same in the UK.

  2. You will need to enquire at the town hall where you are registered as living. Some are very helpful others are not, so I hope where you are going they are friendly. Note I said registered as living! This means that you are registered at the town hall as being on the electoral role which is known as empadronado. You can do this at the townhall yourself it's straight forward. For advice regarding your licenses etc, your best bet is to get the advice of an English speaking Spanish lawyer, do not attempt it on your own, (unless you speak fluent Spanish) Paperwork in Spain (of any kind) is a minefield, a pain in the a*se and very longwinded. You'll need the patience of Job but like all of us who live here, you'll get used to it!! lol

Although here comes the bad news, you probably won't be able to run those kind of trips, as they are usually tied up to the locals and foreigners find it very hard to break tradition here.

Sorry to be a bit negative, but I've lived here 17 years, and used to deal with townhalls and lawyers on a daily basis for clients when I was a translator. It's not what you know here, it's who you know (or who you can buy off)

    Good luck

  3. Best of luck. I gave up trying to get a licence, it's just not worth the hassle.

Edit; With respect to Rose, I am a resident in Spain, I'm on the padron, but if I want to get my fishing licence I have to go 40k to an address in Málaga. There is no parking so it's a bus journey. As I originate from the UK I need to take my UK licence, but because I live in Spain that's not possible. There is one other way. I can go on a fishing course and learn how to fish. It is not a short course. Personally, I would rather try another way of relaxing. Fishing has become too stressful.
