  1. You can get whatever you need in Thailand so unless your companies paying for shipping I would only bring pictures and favorite things.

Everything is 230v so if your from the US you need to be careful as Thailand uses the same spade type plugs as the US and you'll fry you electronics if you don't use a transformer.

TV in Thailand is PAL-B and so if your from the US NTSC TV will not work (best to buy a TV and give it to a Thai friend when you leave).  DVDs are region 3 so go online and you can find the code to unlock your DVD player or buy one here cheap.  You can buy region 0 (noncoded DVDs ) and VCDs also.

If you smoke bring as many as your conscience will allow.  Cigarettes and cigars are regulated by the Tobacco Monopoly of Thailand and your brand may not be available.  You are allowed 200 cigarettes or 500 grams of tobacco but I brought about 200 cigars when I got married and the people at customs just kind of laughed and waved me through.

  2. Depends on you literally.  If you are like me, I am a male, 180+ cm and 110kg.  There are not many clothes I can buy there easily, unless its t-shirts and shorts and shoes maybe.  Then you should bring your best light clothes.  And then it depends on where you are living.

Thailand though a third world country has many of the same items that any European, American or Austrailian store may have.  Like the person before me. said, Money and a smile and enjoy the food.

Honestly, bring your essentials, wallet, watch or purse etc. Like I said most things like shampoo, soap, toothbrush, etc. are available.  Special soaps, or vitamins or whatever may be harder to find, but, I doubt it.

Name brand clothes and items you will find priced comparably.  You can buy a Thai-english or Thai-?  language dictionarys in Thailand.  They are so hard to find here in the US.

If I were living there for a year.  Bring enough clothes for a week and buy the rest.  Bring enough toiletries to last a month and buy it there.  And enjoy the experience.

Not to bring, illicit drugs, the penalties are very harsh.  No guns or weapons.  Pack simply, it's too hot there to lug alot. Bring your favorite walking shoes.  Bangkok is not a place to wear high heels.  Too many cobblestones.

If you have other questions, check out

www.thailandguru.com, it is a website for those who will live there.

    Good luck

  3. If you are coming for just one year, you don't really need to bring any thing other than what you would normally bring. For me, because I am handy with tools I bought with me all my good quality tools. I t just depends on where your interests lie

  4. bring money and a smile don't bring illegal drugs .
