Question:

Moving to the Gold Coast, Australia?

I am thinking of moving to the Gold Coast from New Zealand.

Which is the best University to attend with Psychology and Criminology courses (course, cost and travel wise).

Where is the best place to live for my partner and I? We also have 2 cats, would they be ok in a highrise apartment or not?

How would I go about my partner and I getting jobs?

  1. Your cats won't need to go into quarantine as they're coming from NZ. There's a bit of paperwork, but that's all.

Bond University on the Gold Coast offers Criminology and Psychology but I'm not sure if they offer a combined degree. Bond is a private uni. so full fees are payable.

Griffith offers a combined degree at its Mount Gravatt campus.

UQ offers it at St. Lucia

If you want to attend either of these, don't live on the Gold Coast - come to Brisbane instead. The GC is only an hour or so away if you want to visit it, but don't even think about commuting every day. The traffic is horrendous, petrol is expensive and the novelty wears off very quickly indeed.

Neither of you should have any trouble getting jobs if you're flexible. There's heaps of casual work around in retail and food outlets. I was at Indooroopilly Shopping Centre near UQ last week and about 1 shop in 3 or 4 had Staff Wanted notices out.

  2. Most apartments will be no pets at all, especially highrise. Unit will be about $600 week. The cats will go into quarantine for 6 months.

For the degrees you are after you will need to go to Brisbane , not offered on the gold coast, sorry.
