  1. definetly walsall but avoid the coalpool and surrounding areas

  2. i'm from near dudley, & even though i don't exactly love the place its not as bad as these people make out.the town centre has very little but that is because about a mile from the town centre is the merry hill centre which is one of the biggest shopping mall in the uk,also next to it is the waterfront with loads of bars, etc. if youv'e got kids, neices or nephews,it has a zoo & castle in the town centre aswell as the black country living museum.there is also a 12 screen cinema & another 10 screen one at merry hill.

  3. I come from West Bromwich (next to Walsall and not so far away from Dudley). I myself would prefer to live in Walsall than Dudley - I just think there are a lot more nicer areas in Walsall than Dudley (and Walsall also has a fairly decent town centre...well, it was a year years ago before I moved away to Liverpool). Saying that, you get your good and bad areas in any town, so make sure you do your homework beforehand!

  4. sorry can't help! As i'm not from there.

I think its best if you move quiet near to the city centre.

    You've got everything local!

  5. Why are you planning to move to Walsall or Dudley is it due to work committments?

I would personally say there are far better places in the West Midlands than Walsall or Dudley.

Sutton Coldfield, Castle Bromwich, Solihull, Coleshill all very nice places with excellent links to Birmingham City Centre.

    Good luck with your move.

  6. To be quite honest I can't think of any reason, except possibly the cost of accommodation, for moving to either of these places. Both are rather dull places in themselves altho' both are close to attractive countryside and, being close to Birmingham, have all the amenities of that city on your doorstep. Both  have good road and rail links to more or less anywhere in the country via the M5, M6 and M42 motorways. If you really fancy moving to the West Midlands why not go the whole hog and move to Birmingham. You will always find cynics who will enjoy knocking the place but I've lived here for many years and have no real problems.  Birmingham has its grim areas with their gangs, etc. but they don't impinge on the more attractive suburbs. The outer edges of the city are, in the main, very pleasant provided you avoid the large, soulless council estates and, despite what some will tell you, Birmingham people are friendly and pleasant. Perhaps the pair of you should spend a few days in the area and see for yourself what Birmingham has to offer.

  7. These are not bad towns  ,There again depend where in those towns and what area .Like any city or town Avery area has its own reputation and every body has diff rent liking best of luck  with your choice

  9. dont move to Walsall!! a friend of mine lived there and got broken into every 2 weeks!

  10. A lot depends on what your life style is, are you working and need to commute, how do you travel? car, bus, train.

My personal opinion, living and working in the area and knowing borh towns, Walsall is better, it has a decent selection of shops, a rail link to Birmingham, just off the motorway, 2 bus stations, a good art gallery, a multiplex cinema not far away and plenty of eating and drinking places.

Dudley was killed off by the Merry Hill centre years ago, a lot of the shops are boarded up and there,s little night life.

  11. Dont
