  1. We don't go by age as to whether you have finished secondary school -- we go by whether or not you have completed the required number of credits. For example, I was barely 17 when I graduated high school. The AVERAGE for graduating high school ranges from 17 1/2 to 19, with MOST being 18.

The requirement is whether you have finished secondary school in YOUR country. If you have, then you are fine. You can begin some sort of post secondary schooling if you have the correct immigration status/visa.

    Good luck to you!

  2. Are you in the UK? I'm not sure what exams you are talking about...but if in the UK, am assuming they are your GCSE's? Your mom is right that in the US and Canada there is mandetory education to Grade 12 (age 17/18 depending when your birthday is). You will need to complete your A levels to have equivilent education. Most employers in North America are only keen to employ people who have finished their high school education.

Do you already have a Visa in place? If you are really unsure of what your exams will be equivilent to, I would suggest contacting the US embassy in your country to get more information. They will be able to assist you with what education is required and what levels would be equal in your country.

    Good luck!
