  1. use a water bottle like hamsters use.

  2. This is a site that will help you. Scroll down to #7 and you will find all the answers you need for your friend. I hope your move goes well for you. Good luck.  Jamie

  3. Gerbils originate from the desert and can go without water for long periods so it wont kill them to be without it for 8 hours. I don't recommend that though because yours are used to having access to it when they want it. It's also very hot in cars and it's still summer.

One way to get water - and food - into a gerbil is with baby food (main ingredient is water and the next is a veggie) and an eyedropper. I like Earth's Best baby food, but any will do. Eyedroppers can be found at most drugstores.

Once you open the baby food it cannot be re-used unless it is refridgerated. So you'll need a few jars. Gerbils are picky so go for things they like such as peas and oats. Most don't really like lettuce and carrots and those will wilt fast.

Try to keep your gerbs cool, as stable as possible, and in your lap or near you. They know your scent and your voice. Car trips are hard on them and can shake them up and cause seizures in some. If they wont take the baby food, don't worry.

  4. If you sit with them, offer them water every, I dunno, fifteen minutes? If they don't accept, wait another fifteen minutes. That's what I would do. But if you are keeping it with storage kinda, then try to sew (if it's cloth), or duct tape the water bottle with it.

    Out of ideas....

Hope this helps and good luck with your gerbils!

  5. You can buy a small bottle that's usually for rodents. It's sold in any pet shop and even in supermarkets. You should know that your car has to have air conditioner if it's too hot; even when gerbils are from the desert they are still mammals so they need to be in cool or balanced temperatures places, if  not they will die for heat exposure and the gases can also kill them. Be careful and good luck.
