Mower Maint Question?

After I have run my lawn mower for about 15 minutes, my mower starts to 'sputter'. It sputters so bad it sounds like the mower is going to stop. Even after changing the oil and filling it up with gas does not help. Any suggestions on what I can do to make my mower run more effeciently without having to purchase a new one?

  1. There are some things that you can do to help correct this problem.  In no particular oreder:

Change the spark plug and make sure the gap is correct.

Clean the underside of the mower deck.  "Packed-up" grass will not allow the clippings to thrown out of the chute properly and affect the performance of the engine.

If there is a fuel filter, replace it.

The age of the mower, and how much use and/or abuse it has taken is also a factor.

I would suggest that you try the first two suggestions, and then go from there.

  2. Try your air filter and spark plug if that is not it carb probably needs adjusted or cleaned.

  3. the float stuck in the carb alowing too much gas into  the carb.the float is in the bowl under the carb.you should need a 1/2 inc wrench to get in off.if its rusted up you can try to clean it or you could take it to a shop and let them clean it or maybe rebuild it.
