But still have the same problem. The only thing I can think of is to change the gas. What else could be the problelm?

It is a Tecumseh OHV 17.5 hp. About 5yrs old.

  1. is it old gas, just a season or 2 can get old, flush and replace gas

  2. Wow second one of the night for me. Just as a first guess I would say that the coil is going bad. Once they start to heat up they will stop producing spark. Next time it does it take the plug out and check to see it it has spark.

  3. replace gas its old

  4. check the vent hole in the filler cap

as the gas gets drawn from the tank a vacum is formed if this is blocked and the fuel can not flow to carb

  5. If you have water in the tank and fuel filter from bad gas it will do that same thing.

  6. Rebuild your carburetor.Or go to Auto Zone,or Pep Boys, etc and pick up some "seafoam"injector cleaner to add to the gas.But it sounds like you might have a float adjustment problem(bowl not filling up fast enough).
