  1. I've asked this same question at the nursery where i work. The guys told me if you alternate your mowing direction each time, it will produce a fuller healthier looking lawn. Now this won't fix problems already there [if any] such as bare or dry spots, but as far as future problems it will help. If mowing with a tractor, they say the best way is to make 5 passes around the perimeter of your yard, then go back and forth like you normally would over the rest. Now, I'm just going on what i was told, and these guys mow for a living, so I assume they're right.

  2. Yes, good advice.

  3. Do it. It makes the grass grow thicker and more lush. It keeps you from making ruts in the yard from going over and over the same exact path each time. Its just better in every way. The grass responds to proper care. Keep the blades sharp and your grass will always look good. Don't cut off more than one third of it's height or that will stunt it's growth. In other words don't let it grow too high before you cut it...

  4. Yes I do that every now and again up and down or left to right.  It is suppose to strengthen the grass.

  5. I really don't think it matters what way you cut the grass, different angles are just for curb appeal. Baseball fields and golf courses always cut the same way and they have awesome  grass.
