The 49-year-old Scott praised his team for their commanding display against the Villans. He opined that the confidence of beating United in their season opener was clearly reflecting on their game, and rated the performance against Villa on Saturday as one
of the best that he has seen as a manager.
While talking to reporters, he said: “The performance was excellent. It was up there with a lot of the really good performances I've had at Everton. I've got to give great credit to the players. They went out and showed today the confidence they've taken
from the result last week.”
The manager was also in awe for Pienaar for making a notable impact at Goodison Park. He believed it was the South African International’s mercurial presence in the team which helped them finish the last season on a high, and he was now continuing from where
he left off.
He continued, “It was massive with the way he [Pienaar] played for us at the end of last season," Moyes explained. He was key to a lot of things we did. The players enjoyed playing with him. His general play today was excellent - throughout the game he was
fantastic.”
