Everton boss, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-c10409 Moyes was disappointed over the failure of his side to qualify for the Europa League next season, despite their remarkable Premier League campaign.
The Toffees are currently placed seventh in the league table and have 52 points from their 36 games. Wins in their remaining two games won’t be enough to help them secure the sixth spot, a prerequisite for a place in the Europa League.
Earlier, they had the opportunity to book their place in the European competition by making it into the FA Cup final. However, they lost 2-1 to Liverpool in the semi-final at Wembley.
Despite his side’s phenomenal run in the league this season, the Scott revealed his despondency to miss out on the Europa League berth.
Moyes told reporters, “A lot of years that would have given you a real chance of finishing in a European position but unfortunately that will not be the case this season.”
The Toffees have lost only four league games since the start of this year, and are currently riding on a seven match unbeaten run. They scored four goals in three successive games against Sunderland, Manchester United and Fulham for the first time since
1964, before they were held on to 1-1 draw by Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium in their last game.
Their splendid run in the last couple of months has almost assured them of seventh place finish. Currently, they are three points clear of their Merseyside rivals http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809, with just two more games to play.
However, the 49-year old expressed his resolve to further improve their league standing in the coming seasons, and revealed that he had always set his ambition of guiding http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c13019 to a league triumph.
“If you had given me that at the start of the season I might have said yes as it is close to where we have been in recent years, but I can’t be happy with finishing seventh or eighth because that is no ambition at all. I always say at the start of the season
that I want to win the league. And I do want to win the league.”
Everton will play Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday, and will host Newcastle United a week later in their final game of the season.
