http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-c10409 Moyes, has berated his side following their 2-1 defeat at the hands of Reading at the Madejski Stadium on Saturday.
The Merseyside outfit claimed the lead in the opening stages through http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Naismith-c34205 and could have killed the game inside the first period after creating myriad opportunities.
Their profligacy, though, in front of the goal allowed the Royals to bounce back just after the restart, as Adam le Fondre restored parity in the 51st minute. The English footballer then went on to score the clincher in the 78th minute
to help his side record their first win of the season and lift them from the drop zone.
Brian McDermott’s unit now have 9 points from their 11 matches and occupy the 17th slot in the table.
On the other hand, the defeat for the Toffees allowed West Bromwich Albion to leapfrog them to the fourth place. It was only Everton’s second league loss of the season.
Not many would have predicted the script before the match, as both the teams went into the fixture with contrasting ambitions. The blue Merseyside team were looking to consolidate their position inside the top four, but for Reading, it was all about pushing
themselves up the relegation zone by claiming their maiden win.
Given the stuttering form of their Saturday opponents prior to the game, Moyes voiced his frustration over the three points dropped by his side.
He revealed that he was ‘angry’ at them for all the chances that they had missed, and believes that their extravagance in front of the goal allowed the hosts to bounce back.
“I'm as angry as I've ever been after a game. I'm not angry with the officials - I'm angry with my team,” he told the reporters.
“We were outstanding in the first half, like we were against Fulham and against Sunderland. But we didn't punish them; we left the door ajar, and let them in. We were more generous with them, we gave them corners and free-kicks, gave the ball away in midfield.”
Everton will next play Norwich City at home on Saturday.
